Q. Do the chromebooks work with a wifi connection?
A. Yes. The chrombooks are "wireless". (Routers, no hardwire)
Q. Will the SafetyNet! work on a cell phone network?
A. Yes. In fact, we took a van full of students on a field trip in which they attended their classes while traveling both to and from our destination.
Q. Is the SafetyNet able to regulate hardware?
A. Yes. This is an essential element of being able to maintain an academic environment within the Chromebook. For example, we disable the USB ports so that no "distractions" can be loaded into the chromebook.
Q. Can my students use the SafetyNet! if they are not enrolled in Queen of Heaven Academy?
A. No. Queen of Heaven Academy uses a closed and closely monitored system that has been incorporated into the SafetyNet. It would be impossible to provide this level of protection outside a closed system.
Q. Can other computers beside the HP Chromebook be used with the SafetyNet! ?
A. No. Students must use a HP Chromebook. We have beta tested with forty-five HP Chromebooks for five years with great success.
Q. Can I use my HP Chromebook outside the SafetyNet! if my student is no longer enrolled in Queen of Heaven Academy?
A. Yes. When the Sisters take a Chromebook off the SafetyNet, it can be used just like any other Chromebook.
Q. Do I purchase the Chromebook or do the Sisters?
A. Students purchase their own Chromebook so it remains under the warranty. Mail the Chromebook to the Sisters. Once it's set up on the SafetyNet! and returned to you, fill out the warranty information.
Q. Why must I mail my Chromebook to the Sisters?
A. Every computer must begin with a clean slate and be properly enrolled. The most efficient way to create a clean slate is to wipe it clean (if needed) and test it. The sisters do these things for each and every computer. When purchasing a new Chromebook, don't turn it on. Simply mail it directly to the Sisters so they can set it up for your student.
Q. How does enrolling in the SafetyNet! financially help the sisters?
A. The primary purpose of the SafetyNet! is to protect students from things on the internet that could harm their heart, mind and soul. Secondary to that purpose is that while protecting your students, you are supporting the Sisters in their mission of helping homeschooling families raise "Saintly Scholars".
